I'm Not Really Into Cooking

I'm not really into cooking, but I don't mind baking every once in awhile. This weekend my Mom and I decided we should make some sugar cookies for v-day. It was kind of a tradition growing up for my sister and I to make these cookies with our Mom, and not just for Valentine's day. We would make them for many different holidays. Anyway, these have got to be the best cookies, EVER. I may be a little bias (family recipe) but, I would say these cookies are better than Kneaders or Paradise. Yeah, I just said that.

HOBBIES

So I have been thinking about after school (you know, when I graduate) and I feel like I'm going to have some spare time. Ok, more like hoping that I will. I don't really have many hobbies and I keep telling myself I need to get a few. I was at my parent's house a few weeks ago and my Mom had been doing some deep cleaning. That is when we found this bad boy. Light meter and all.

It is Slick Rick's (my Dad) camera. Which he said it use to be my great Grandma's. I couldn't believe my Dad still had the camera.

By no means am I photographer, I did take one photography class which seems like forever ago but, I thought this could be fun and maybe learn a few new things. Wish me luck.

We are now going to be a family of four. No, it's not what you are thinking, I'm not pregnant. Matt got a horse! Matt has been wanting to get a horse of his own for awhile now and this couldn't have come at a more perfect time. He is so excited about it and spent almost all weekend with him. The new guys name is Dynamo and he should fit in just fine with the other horses.

Today is Dax's (my sister's son) 1st Birthday. He brings a lot of excitement to the fam since he is the only grandchild on the Davis side. There was a big robot party for him this weekend which was great. A "yada" (pinata) and all as my cousin's son would say. I had fun helping my sister with some of the design elements and of course the cupcakes. :) Here are a few pictures from the party.

LAST SEMESTER

This week was my first week of my last semester. Can you say crazy? I thought maybe I would be excited. But, honestly I'm not so sure about the whole last semester and graduating thing. I'm happy to be moving on and doing something new but, very scared at the same time. Lots of people go to school for five years right? That's what people keep telling me. I still am not sure what I'm doing once I'm done with school but, hopefully I will be figuring that out soon.

I haven't had an 8 o'clock class for a couple of years and it's kicking my butt. I've been rockin' a pretty sweet messy bun so I'm able to sleep as long as possible. :/

On a side note, Dozer has been hanging out in his beds a lot. Yes, I said beds. He has two. Spoiled right? He had an accident last weekend while playing at the farm. His ear got caught on some wire which left a pretty good sized cut. It has bleed off and on this week but, it is definitely getting better. Lucky we didn't need to take him in for stitches.

Wow, another year has flown by. This year the holidays were pretty low key and we had a great time. We got to see a lot of family and friends that we haven't seen in awhile and it was great. :)

I have definitely been a slacker taking pictures lately. So here are just a few.

Above is what our New Years Eve looked like at about 10 pm. Yeah, then about 11:30 we were in bed. Matt and I were joking about the year that I fell asleep on him before midnight. That was four years ago and it's crazy to think about every that has happened within those four years.

This last year I went through a lot. I have grown so much as a person and I am so thankful for my wonderful family. I am more happy than I have been in a long time and can't wait for all the changes that are going to be happening this year.

This month has flown by and Christmas will be here before we know it people. I figured I better put a picture of our tree up for a few reason. But, mainly because it is a fake tree. This is a big deal at our house. Matt has always been so avid about having a real tree. This year we decided to grab one at the lovely Wal-Mart due to the fact we have been short on time.

And here is the holiday card that I designed for my Momma. I had a lot of fun working on it and was glad that I was able to do it for her. I hope everyone is having a good holiday. It's great to almost be done with the semester and to be able to spend time with the fam.

WOLF MAN

So I figured I better blog about my wonderful... ok not wonderful, painful experience. While carving my relief I stabbed my hand. Ouch, right? Big time. It wouldn't stop bleeding so we figured we needed to head to the ER. Of course it was busy (being Labor Day and all). The nurse took one look and said I was going to need stitches. A few hours later the doctor came in to stitch me up. As he was trying to numb my hand it was about as painful when this whole process started. If you ask my sister she would say I swore at the doctor. I did say a few choice words but, I didn't swear AT him. :) Anyway, I'm suppose to get my stitches out on Monday but, I think it is still going to be a while before I can use it all the way. Matt keeps telling me I need to milk it but, I'm ready to have my hand back.

I can't explain how excited I am for fall. I know, a lot of you have probably expressed the same feelings but, my reason is not only to be done with the "warm" weather. I mean, I am exciting about that. I have been dying to wear a sweater for months. But, what I'm really exciting about is the tv shows. Not only am I excited for the Office, Happy Endings, etc. But I'm ready for somethings new!

Did I really just blog about tv? Oh well :)

Some of you may know that I am currently trying to get my bachelors degree in graphic design. Well, I haven't been doing a whole lot of designing this summer and decided I wanted to do something fun. Last week I decided I wanted to illustrate a picture of my little family (hence the illustration above). And, I actually had a lot of fun working on it. I'll probably have it featured on a shelf in my home.
Whenever people ask me what I'm going to school for I always seem to get responses like, "a starving artist huh" "I thought about that graphic design but, then decided that I wanted to actually make some money" "what is that" or "what can do you with that kind of degree". I could keep going but, I won't. On a side note, not everyone is negative about my career choice. I have great family and friends that support me.
Designing makes me happy and who doesn't want to be happy for the rest of their life, right? I'm glad to be graduating, but at the same time I'm crapping my pants. I have no idea what the future hold for me and if I will land that "awesome" job.

I have been getting so bored with this blog of mine (and Matt's). I have thought about just deleting it all together but, haven't had the guts to do it. I enjoy looking at others blogs. Between that, pinterest and online shopping I can stay entertained for awhile.
Well anyway, I'll give an update of whats been going on. Matt and I are working our fingers to the bone (Ok, not really. But it, seems like it). We have been up to Hatch quite a bit this summer. We had two reunions and friends come up as well. Camping over at Tropic Res. to go watch my Momma and her BF Jeanette run the Bryce 1/2 marathon (they rock). Went to the SLC a few times to visit my sister and her adorable family. We are planning some sort of small trip right before school starts. And speaking of school, I will be quitting my job to focus on school and drum roll please, I will finally be graduating from college in May. I honestly thought this day was never going to come. But, it's happening, I can see the end of the tunnel. We will see if these next two semesters are going to be hell or not. I'm hoping not. That's all I have for now. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

So, this weekend was the first weekend in forever that Matt or I weren't busy with something. We headed down to St. George and went swimming. Man, did I get fried! It was nice to just relax but, I better make sure to put more sunscreen on next time.

He Is Still With Us

I talked to my grandpa a few weeks ago and he asked if we still had Dozer. What kind of question is that?! Of course we do! He is such a funny dog with a lot of personality.
Now that he has grown out of the puppy stage he actually has become quite the lazy dog. You wouldn't know it if you came over though. He loves people!

Vegas Anniversary

This week we celebrated our second anniversary. A lot has happened in two years and I'm glad to have Matt by my side. He is such a great guy and I really don't think I could be any luckier. It has definitely been an interesting year but, I couldn't have done any of it without him.

We decided to head down to Vegas and get away from our crazy busy life. We stayed 3 nights, ate a lot of food, checked out the Shark Reef, shopped until Matt dropped, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower and had a good time. :)

Birthday and Graduation

Matt turned 25 and graduated all in the same week! I am so proud of him and all his hard work. He doesn't give himself enough credit either. I don't know how he does it all with as little time he has.

Matt decided he is going to continue school to get an MBA which will take him about a year to finish.

Today has been such a nice day and I am so ready for spring and summer to be here. I came home this afternoon and noticed these two little tulips in my front yard. Tulips are my favorite and it made me happy to see them popping out.

Just thought I would let you all know that yes, we are still alive. I feel like whatever I blog about isn't very exciting. Everyone is having babies, talking about babies or getting married and we are just in the middle of all that. Anyway, I will give everyone an updated about what's been going on.

There are two cute new babies in our family and one on the way (no, I'm not pregnant, like I mentioned this above). We are still working on the cabin and close to being done. Matt's birthday is coming up. He is also graduating in about four weeks with his bachelors. And after graduation we are heading to Vegas. While we are there we will be celebrating our second year of marriage. Pretty crazy if you ask me.

Seems Like A Lot, Right?

Well, the holidays are over and it was so good to see family! We spent Christmas with Matt's family and all his siblings were able to come into town. It was great to have everyone together one last time before Ang (Matt's little sister) left on her mission. She is now in the MTC and doing great. We expected nothing less from her. :) She will do awesome and be a great missionary!

So, now that the break is over we are busier than ever. With school and work Matt and I seem to keep pretty busy. The second day of school I was at the school until midnight working on homework. Yeah, this semester is going to be interesting. I also am going to be doing an internship for Cedar Breaks which should be pretty cool.
Matt with be finishing up with his first bachelors this semester which we are both pretty excited about. If you caught that, I said first. He has decided to continue school and get a second bachelors in accounting as well as an MBA and a MAC. Seems like a lot right? Well it will only take him another semester to get the second bachelors and a couple of years to get his two masters. I am excited for him and glad that he knows what he wants to be doing for the next few years. At least one of us does. :)

Well, we finally moved and we weren't so sure how we were going to feel about it. The place we were living at was pretty much brand new. We had our own backyard (which worked out perfect with Dozer), and we got so use to living there. Matt and I just moved into an older home that is within walking distance to campus, and even though we share a backyard, this place has more character than our first home and a lot closer to town. Doz still isn't sure about the place and is trying to get use to how things will work. Now that we are moved in and have our things almost put away, we think we are going to enjoy this place. :)

Matt came home from his meetings and he had something hiding behind his back. I saw something orange and I told him I knew what it was. He "surprised me" and pulled out some orange soda. He then said I have something else for you. Then he handed me a twix. Now, if you know me you would know those are two of my favorites. He told me he had one more thing. He pulled out a single rose. It was so sweet and thoughtful of him to do that for no reason. He really is such a great husband.

Today was a long day, long but good. In the singles stake they had the transition meeting which Elder Evans from the Seventy came and spoke to everyone. It was a different kind of Sunday but it was really great listening to the speakers and seeing all the changes in the stake.

Tonight we had Vic, Sarah, and Hamilton (their dog) come over. We hadn't seen them in awhile and it was fun to get together, eat burgers, and talk while the power went out for about a half hour. It is so funny to watch the dogs and this was one of the only pictures I could get of these two because they wouldn't hold still.

So, Mom and I made Jess's baby appointment a family affair. Now, we thought that was normal but a lot of people seem to think differently. I am so glad that we got to be there with Jess and Nate. It was seriously one of the coolest experiences. We got to hear the heartbeat and see an ultrasound as well. So cute to see the toes and that little bum. So Jess is at 15 weeks and the doctor told us all that it is 90% going to be a BOY! Now, he started explaining and showing how he could tell it was a boy. I'm so excited for Jess and Nate. I even did a little fist pump (not quite Jersey Shore style) when he said it was a boy. From the very beginning I thought it would be a boy. I sure do love my sister and Nate. Can't wait for the little guy to be apart of the family.

Well... the painting is finished! It was a long day, we painted for a few hours, went to the swimming pond, painted some more, went to Cafe Adobe, and then to Mom and Dad's trailer before we headed home. I told Matt before we even got to the trailer that we had make some smores. Ok, I had to make smores (Matt is not a big fan). It was a great couple of days.

Mom and Dad came up to help us paint the cabin. Really... I never knew if this day would come. It is exciting to know that we are just that much closer being done with the cabin. We can't thank both of our families enough for all their help working on the cabin.

You are probably thinking... oh great, this dog is wild. No, he is such a good dog (if you haven't read any of my previous posts, haha). But I think Matt is hoping we can turn him into super dog. Ok, not really, just the most well behaved dog. So let the training begin!

After Matt got off work we headed up to work on the cabin. We bought some of the lights and fans. Which means we are getting closer to being done. Tonight we worked on sanding off the mud so the texture can be put up! This is what Matt sometimes looks like after working on the cabin, ha ha. The cabin is looking amazing and people are surprised how it is turning out. We are planning on painting this weekend! :)

While getting ready for church I could hear Dozer whining. Now, that usually isn't something out of the norm. He usually has to go outside or something. But, it wasn't his normal whine. (I know, that probably sounds weird to most people.) So I found him underneath the bed. He use to just put his head under the bed, now he crawls under. As you can see this bed isn't very tall and... Dozer was stuck. I was trying to help him out and he wouldn't just crawl he was trying to stand up. I thought I was going to have to lift the bed up. After a few tries he got out from underneath. He is such a crazy dog.

First relaxed day with the husband in awhile. We have been so busy the last few weekends it was nice to sleep in and just spend sometime together. We went out to lunch and then down to St. George to go to the temple. We were over due and it was so good to go.

Oh friday... Friday use to be the day I couldn't wait for because either I didn't work saturday or it was a short day at work. Now, friday is the day I can't wait for because, Matt doesn't work on the weekend or family comes to town. Mom and Dad stopped on their way back to St. George. Matt was in Hatch working on the cabin so I went with my Mom, Slick Rick, Jess, and Nate to dinner and a movie. Eclipse was our choice of movie and we all seemed to enjoy it (even the guys). So this picture doesn't have much to do with my day. But, I took this on my way home from the movie. The sky looked really cool (sorry, you can't really tell).

Changing gears... I figured I needed to make a BIG announcement. Someone is prego and due at the end of January. That person is... my big sis! I'm so excited for her and Nate. They are going to be great parents and it will be fun to have little kids in the Davis family.

If you haven't been there you should go! We went today with Matt's brother, his wife, and her brother and his wife. Wow, did you get that? It was such a cool hike but, make sure to wear good shoes, you are walking through water almost half of the time. There is also a cool "waterslide" that we all went down made out of a rock. We had a lot of fun. Thanks for the invite Neil and Michelle.

We had fun as I mentioned but, it was time to head home. Goodbye Lucky 7 Ranch, until... sometime this week? It was great to see both of our families this weekend and we ended the night watching fireworks while we fell asleep.

This year for the water relay the Mark Walter family won! The last few years Matt's uncle Scott's family had taken the trophy. But, this was a new year. It is always fun time. The relay consist of a bike ramp, canoeing, zip line, and rope swing. It's fun to watch the boys and this year a few of my Sister-in-Laws and I decided to do our own team since there were another group of girls we figured we would at least try and beat them. Ang and I did the canoe and, I figured that was safe and I didn't need to get in the water since I didn't take my swimming suit to go swim. Well, at the end of our canoeing we had to touch a pole so the person going on the zip line could then go. Well with our mad canoeing skills we were a little further from the pole so we couldn't just reach out and touch it. So I thought, we are close enough I will just hop out and touch it. I went to get out and lets just say that it was a little deeper than I thought and my feet got caught up, I went under. We did end up beating the other womens team and I was soaked. It was fun and we got a few laughs out of it.

Tonight ended with an awesome firework show put on by Matt's Uncle Scott and his boys. The Lincoln was all done up and we had some huge fireworks. I'm not talking about fireworks you buy from Wal-Mart. I'm talking about fireworks that the ranch puts on for the entire town. It is always a great show but, tonights was one of the best.

For three years now I have been going to the annual 4th of July Walter reunion. It is always a lot of fun and everyone is very tired by the end of everything. This year Matt and three of my Brother-in-Laws went on a horse ride. Now, mind you Matt said that we would be gone about an hour or an hour and a half. We were gone for FOUR hours. And... we were a little short on horses so Matt rode with me on the back of Peppy. It was interesting in the fact, I hadn't rode double since I was probably four or five. Anyway, it was a fun, interesting and a beautiful ride. This is what a bunch of the trees looked like and I thought they looked so cool.

We headed up to Hatch once again for another reunion. Ang stayed at the cabin with us and it was fun to have some company. Matt downloaded a new app on his phone called Google Sky. Now, I'm not up on all the constellations and star names but, Matt's phone sure came in handy. It was interesting and recommend checking it out if you can.

We had some friends over for dinner and then went out to shoot bows. I was a first timer and did better than I thought I would have (At least I hit the target). Only in small towns can you go out and shoot a bow in your neighborhood. Granted its an open field right across the street.

Sundays have been pretty lazy for us lately. So, the husband and I decided to whip out the wii and play a few games. Tonight Matt found out that he was 30 on wii fit. :)
